WALKER TAKES TOP 15 FINISH AT HOSSEGOR

December 6th, 2023.

Harry Walker and dad Stuart made the long 750-mile drive down to south-west France last weekend, for the fourth round of the very well attended Championnat de France des Sables (CFS).

Over 180 riders lined up for the Ronde des Sables, Hossegor, which is situated on the Atlantic coast just north of Biarritz, almost in sight of the Spanish border.

Walker didn’t have the best start position. Circulating the first lap in a lowly 110th place, there was a lot of work to do and around two hours in which to do it!

With the front runners well and truly gone … Walker set about rapidly picking up places lap-by-lap. After 1-hour and 15-minutes, he pitted for fuel in 26th position. With three quarters of an hour to go, a top 20 finish was the goal!

As the track got rougher and rougher, and the laps taking around 25 per cent longer to complete, Walker put in a valiant effort to finish in a credible 14th place with 17 laps under his belt (the top eight completed 18 laps …).

“We’re well happy with that,” said Stuart. “A solid and reliable finish. The quad is all sorted now and just needs a little fine-tuning ahead of the next round this coming weekend. We’re basically getting some ‘sand time’ ready to contest the final two rounds in January and February with a set up ready for the prestigious – televised – Le Touquet over the weekend of the 3rd and 4th of February.”

The fifth round of the CFS will be the Endurance des Lagunes de Saint-Léger de Balson, again in south-west France.
