TEAM WALES WIN IN THE SAND AT WESTON AND BARMOUTH

Welshmen Jamie Morgan and Dafydd Davies dominated the UK’s end-of-season beach races at Weston and Barmouth earlier this month.

After just over three hours and 18 laps of the arduous 6-mile Weston circuit, Morgan took the overall and solo quad win, some nine-plus minutes ahead of Steve Atkins in second and Zak Orchard in third. This was his third Weston win and the first for WeDIRT Honda. “It was good to get the overall win and not just the quad solo at Weston Beach Race. Big congrats to Steve Atkins and Zak Orchard for the overall podium. Let’s do this at the beach this time next year.”

The organisers of the Barmouth Beach Race had their work cut out when torrential rain, the day before the quad race, wiped out the original start line. After a lot of work and a shorter start, racing was underway.

Davies took three wins from three starts to take the overall and said; “It was a very enjoyable weekend. A big change for me after not racing on the sand for five years and having no “sand setup, but my EDR Yamaha hybrid didn’t miss a beat and it got the job done. Big thanks to Tom Arnold and the crew for putting on a great event!”
