SANSOM EXPERIENCES EURO SET BACK

April 29th, 2022.

Oli Sansom, the reigning NETT Champion and third in the 2021 British QX Championship, is pitting his racing skills against the best in Europe this year by contesting the FIM EMX Quad European Championship.

Sansom started the year with a couple of training sessions and taking part in the Dutch Masters, prior to heading out to Markelo in the Netherlands for the first round of the European. Unfortunately, it didn’t all go quite according to plan for the West Midlands rider, as he was hit by a virus just a couple of days before the weekend, which pretty much wrote him out of the race. “I came down with a nasty virus on Thursday evening and it just got worse. I was determined to try and race and qualified in 23rd, which gave me a second row start. In gruelling, rough conditions which I usually love, I struggled to breathe and focus. I managed to gain a few places in the race and ended up in 18th.

“Gutted, is the least I can say, but health comes first and I need to get healthy and now focus on the British Championship this Sunday. Massive thanks to my mechanic Dave Porter for all his support in the bike preparation, Matey Jones, Richard Vaughan, my girlfriend Becky, friends, family and all my sponsors for their support …”

The proposed remaining rounds of the EMX QUAD European Championship are as follows:

21st – 22nd May – Loket, Czech Republic
2nd - 3rd July – Lange, Estonia
9th– 10th July – TBA
3rd – 4th September – Dalecin, Czech Republic
