The penultimate round of the FIM World Quadcross Championship headed to Lithuania over the first weekend of August. A new venue on the calendar, nestled in a beautiful set up.

The weekend again started well for Mark McLernon with a second place in qualifying, earning an additional nine championship points and getting ever closer to second-placed Patrick Turrrini in the championship stakes.

Sunday morning started off in perfect style for the Irishman, who claimed the holeshot in the opening moto. He proceeded to set the early race pace but, after a few laps, he was taken out by Estonian Karl Rillo who charged through for the lead. This left McLernon on the floor and by the time he remounted his machine he was down in 18th. This didn’t faze him though as he fought back through the field to a respectable fifth place finish. With Turini also crashing, McLernon moved up to second in the series points.

Race two saw another strong start for the #919 machine with McLernon settling into a good rhythm in third place and a lonely race to third at the flag. The fifth and third place finishes gave McLernon fourth overall, narrowly missing another trip to the podium. Turini did not start the second race as he headed back to Italy early to get his wrist checked out.

McLernon took the advantage to secure second place in the World Championship with 31 points over Turini.

Oli Sansom finished inside the top 15, with a 13th and 12th.

Kevin Sarr was crowned the first-ever FIM World Quadcross Champion.
