GOTTA BE IN IT TO WIN IT

February 23rd, 2021.

ATV specialist KIK embarked on a unique initiative recently whereby it decided to set up a low-cost raffle for one of its tricked-out Walsh hybrid race machines.

Ayrton Knowles, son of KIK proprietor Keith Knowles, explained; “We decided to raffle one of my ex-race quads on Facebook. We did this mainly because of the current climate the world is in, ie, not many people have the money to spend on a fully-loaded race machine. We also wanted to give a very lucky person the chance to win one of the best hybrid race quads available for as little as £25 and share some positivity.”

The machine in question was a Walsh CRF450 hybrid, with PEP suspension, Rath components, RPM Dominator axle, Precision steering damper, Beringer front brake – virtually every upgraded race part imaginable.

“I was overwhelmed by the response we got from the raffle,” added Knowles. “Within 48 hours, all the tickets had been reserved and 90 per cent of them had been paid for, which luckily meant there weren’t many people I had to chase for money! I gave everyone a deadline to pay by, as this would keep the raffle short and sweet and allow us to draw the winning number as soon as possible.

“On the night of the draw I was getting lots of positive feedback from people saying how excited they were for the draw; this was really helpful to know that the manic couple of days sorting it out on my phone were worth it, as it gave people something exciting to look forward to in these uncertain times.

“The winning number was number 341 selected from a random number generator and this went to Irishman Daniel Gilligan, who clearly had the Irish luck on his side. Daniel was over the moon when I contacted him and couldn’t believe it. We arranged for him to come and collect his quad that weekend and he was even more chuffed when he arrived and saw it in person. I am glad the bike has gone to a good home and will continue to be raced and looked after.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in this raffle and thank them for how well they corresponded with my first attempt at a raffle. It wasn’t the easiest of things to organise, but it was certainly worth it. Stay tuned for the next raffle. We may do something a little different, or maybe another quad. Thanks again to everyone and a big congratulations to Daniel, the lucky winner.”
