DEREK BURNS STATEMENT

29th April, 2021.

Nora Motorsport, the licence provider for Gravity LC, has issued a statement following the fatal accident at last weekend's club event.

"It was with deep regret that we learnt of the tragic fatal accident that occurred at the opening round of the Gravity Leisure Club championship at the weekend. We all undoubtedly know the risks of competing in motorsport but it never lessens the shock of such news. Derek Burns had been a quad racer for many years, and to many, was far more than just that. Derek had a massive passion for the sport and his engineering skills came in handy for many and he was always happy to help his fellow competitors.

"Derek will be sorely missed by the racing fraternity and our condolences and thoughts go to his family in these difficult times.

"NORA Motorsport, along with its insurers, will be investigating the incident and co-operating fully with the local authorities, all early indications point to the fact that it was nothing more than a tragic accident. Our thoughts also go out to the Wheatley family who run the Gravity events and will now have to deal with this loss, we will be doing everything that we can to support them through these difficult times."
