The fifth round of the 2025 British Quad Championship made its debut at Schoolhouse MX in County Durham last weekend. Hosted by the NETT Quad club, this was a new venue for the national championship. The NETT Club had done a sterling job creating and preparing a completely new layout, with a perfectly sculpted circuit boasting flowing lines, technical twisty corners, and some impressive jumps. The track conditions on Saturday were nothing short of superb, offering a balanced challenge to all age groups, from enthusiastic juniors to seasoned adult competitors.
Walker is the 2025 British QX Champion.Saturday’s Nett club championship saw the full range of riders take to the course, and the feedback was unanimous – the track was a hit. Riders praised the variety it offered, with fast sections for throttle-heavy overtakes and tight corners that tested precision and control. It was a showcase of the track’s potential, setting the stage for a blockbuster Sunday.
Calm Before the Storm – British Championship Sunday
Sunday greeted the paddock with calm skies and a quiet sense of anticipation. This was more than just another round – reigning champion Harry Walker had the chance to clinch the 2025 British title. He wasted no time in setting out his stall.
Dafydd Davies finished second overall at Schoolhouse to boost his second place in series.QualifyingWalker was on fire from the outset, laying down a blistering qualifying lap of 1:55.6 – a full second faster than his closest rival, Dafydd Davies, with Murray Graham rounding out the top three. The reigning champ made a clear statement; he was here to finish what he started.
Race 1The opening race saw a textbook start for Walker, as he launched off the line to take the holeshot, closely followed by Graham. However, once Walker was out front, there was no catching him. With surgical precision and relentless pace, Walker dominated the race from start to finish. Davies managed to climb into second, edging out Graham who settled for third. It was a strong showing from all three, but Walker’s performance stood a class apart.
Race 2 – The Weather TurnsRace two delivered early drama as Graham snatched the holeshot and led the opening laps. But, Walker and Davies had other plans. Both riders pushed hard, eventually passing Graham, just as the weather began to change. What started as a perfect day quickly descended into chaos as heavy rain fell at the mid-race mark. The pristine track rapidly transformed into a slick, treacherous battlefield. Puddles formed in corners and ruts began swallowing tyres. In true champion form, Walker remained composed and pushed through the worsening conditions to take his second win of the day. Davies again finished runner-up, with Graham once more in third.
Murray Graham rode hard to finish third overall and sixth in the championship.Safety First – Racing cancelledAs the rain continued to pour, and track conditions became increasingly dangerous. The NETT Club, prioritising rider safety, made the difficult but responsible decision to cancel the remaining races of the day. While disappointing for riders and spectators, it was a call that underscored the professionalism of the organisers.
Champions CrownedDespite the curtailment of races, the results stood. With two dominant wins under his belt, Walker was officially crowned the 2025 British Quad Champion – another well-earned title, making it three consecutive British Championship wins.
Adding to the celebrations, young Louie Holt sealed his place in the history books as the Under-21 British Champion, a fantastic achievement that highlights the bright future of quad racing in the UK.
