WINTER FUN ON THE SAND AT MABLETHORPE

October 17th, 2018.

Probably one of the best-kept secrets in terms of national is a great set of sand races held over the winter on the beach at the small Lincolnshire seaside town of Mablethorpe, on the east coast of England between Skegness and Cleethorpes.

The Mablethorpe Motor Cycle Sand Racing Club was formed in 1970 and is now in its 48th season of racing. Its first event of the 2018/19 season got underway last Sunday and the next one is scheduled for the 28th of October. It includes two ATV/Quad classes; Up to 250cc 2-stroke/400cc 4-stroke, and 300cc/350cc 2-stroke, 450cc unlimited 4-stroke.

There are also classes for; Juniors, Road Machines, Grass Track and Motocross.

Planned dates are; November 11th, 25th; December 9th, 23rd; January 6th, 20th; February 3rd, 17th; March 10th and 24th.

Signing on usually starts at 9.00am, and the club would love to see the quad class revived back to its glory when a certain Mr Cole used to race there.
