WINROW RETURNS TO BRITISH QX CHAMPIONSHIP

May 25 2016.

Multiple British Championship Paul Winrow will make a return to the ATVS Only British QX Championship for the third round of the series at Fat Cats Moto Parc this Sunday (29th of May) when he will compete as a Wildcard.

It will be the 42-year-old's first appearance in the series since October 2014 when he sealed the last of his fourteen British titles at Canada Heights, before moving into semi-retirement.

Speaking earlier this week Winrow said he wanted to ride at Armthorpe for fun and also see how he gets on against the current crop of riders on a YFZ450 Yamaha at a proper sand track.

"Everyone keeps telling me how good they are in the sand, so I thought I'd find out for myself," said Winrow. "I'm a bit worried about doing three 20 minute, plus two lap, races though. I might have to stop for a breather!"

The Armthorpe round marks the halfway point for the series and at the sharp end things couldn't be tighter with Mark McLernon (Honda) and Paul Holmes (Yamaha) tied on 127 points in the main British Championship class, and Leon Rodgers (Kawasaki) and Dean Colhoun (WSP Husky) tied on 132 points in the Willcock Holeformers-backed Under 21 class.

That quartet will be part of a full 34 rider line-up, which will also include Carl Bunce, David Cowan, George Callaway, Stefan Murphy, Justin Reid, Murray Graham, Sheldon Seal, Oli Sansom and Lindsey Duke.

In the Komfort Services Rookie Cup the battle for supremacy is between Dafydd Davies, from Wales, who holds a narrow eight point lead over Lithuania's Domantas Vyaznys.

The meeting will also feature round two of the British Championship support series, the ZIP Cup, plus NORA-MX club championships for Clubman, Masters and 100 and 250 youth classes.

Entries are available for all these classes via the NORA-MX club website at www.nora-mx.org.uk

Fat Cats Moto Parc is close the village of Armthorpe, just off junction four of the M18. Postcode DN3 3EH.
