IT’S AN EDR FAMILY AFFAIR

March 17th, 2020.

Team EDR – Ed Davies Racing – are a tightknit family of quad racers, itching to get back out on track once the season kickstarts later in the year.

Seventeen-year-old Catrin and dad Ed are out to defend the Nora-MX British championships titles they won last season. Catrin, a full-time childminder, won the Nora-MX 2019 Rider of the Year – the first time it has ever been presented to a female racer. She is set to defend the Ladies and Novice Class titles that she won so convincingly last season, beating all the girls and boys. Meanwhile, multiple Masters Champion Ed has a tradition to uphold, having won the Masters A class every year since he moved into it ten years ago.

Dafydd is the eldest of the Davies boys and he is gearing up to tackle the Cromwell Trucks ACU British Championship this season. Following on from a character-building season last year, motor mechanic Dafydd is concentrating on having one last try at winning the Under 21s in the British. His younger brother Aled, aged 14, was runner up in the 2019 Nora-MX 250 air-cooled class and is now ready to move up to the fiercely competitive 250 Open group.

Team EDR extends beyond the four Davies riders, with Connor Yates, Frank Marden and Tom Chell also in the camp. Michael Haydon, who won the Clubman’s championship in EDR colours last year, is sitting out this season due to injury.

Keeping the team anchored is no mean feat, but a role which the ever-smiling Carol Davies takes on willingly. Not content with being wife, mum, caterer and cheerleader, she is also regularly seen providing an on-event parts and accessories service to riders across the paddock. This year EDR has added the new Maxxis Razr Plus tyre to its range; just something else for Carol to get her head around.
