HARRY ON PAR FOR THE YEAR

January 24th, 2019.

PAR Homes has stepped in to be the main sponsor of British Under 21 Champion Harry Walker as he gears up for his busiest season ever in 2019.

The Welsh-based building firm - www.parhomes.co.uk - is owned by former British Quad Champion, Paul Rowlands, who offered to back Walker after watching him first-hand at last year’s Barmouth Beach Race.

Rowlands, who generously backs many forms of off-road sport and still keeps his hand in racing in the British SxS Championship, said he was impressed with Walker’s speed and fitness over the gruelling three-hour race.

Walker will again be Yamaha-mounted in 2019, with main dealer ATVs R Us supplying two new YFZ’s. They will get plenty of use with the PAR Homes/Zip Racing Yamaha team set to contest around 30 meetings throughout 2019.

Walker is currently in the USA cementing deals with some long-standing product sponsors. He is looking to go one better in the ACU British Championship after finishing second to Paul Holmes in 2018.

The series, which this season is being run directly by the ACU, goes from six to eight rounds with the opening round at Milton on the 28th of April.

Walker will once again contest the full FIM European Championship, in which he finished third last year, with the provisional calendar so far at four rounds, in Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and, for the first time, Croatia.

He will also contest selected internationals in France, Holland and Belgium and will be at next week’s Le Touquet beach race, where last year he finished as the highest-placed British rider.

Meetings in France will be important for Walker this year after French clothing brand Kenny also stepped up to back him, via British importer, BRP.

“I can’t wait to get started with 2019 now that everything is in place and that we have such fantastic backing from passionate sponsors like PAR, Kenny and ATVs R Us, plus all our product sponsors,” said Walker. “Having such an extensive racing programme is a big commitment and having the right support will be essential if we're to be successful, which is why I am really grateful for all the backing.”
