BRITS FLY THE FLAG IN MEMORY OF CONNOR SMITH

Seven British quad racers flew out to Cingoli in Italy last weekend for the 6th Connor Smith Memorial event. In the mix were Dylan McKenna, Josh Talents and Alfie Walker contesting the Junior class, with Murray Graham, Adam Robinson, Jacob Atkinson and Micky Campbell in the adult ranks.

Run along similar lines to the European championship, there was practice and qualifying on Saturday and two races on Sunday. With elder brother Harry on work duties, it was left to 15-year-old Alfie to lead Team Walker, and he did it in style. Qualifying in second, he recovered from a poor start in his first race to hassle Max Gasparini all the way to the chequered flag, stealing the win on the line by .01 of a second. Alfie comfortably won the second race with a 57-second margin. “I passed Max on lap one and just got my head down and proved my point in my last-ever 250cc ride.” Talents and McKenna were third and fourth, whilst Robinson finished second in the Sports group.

“We were made very welcome by the organising club,” said Walker. “It was a privilege to take part, and to ride and win for a special person #660. A big thanks from all of us goes to Bill Smith for making it all possible.”
