BRITISH QX CHAMPIONSHIP CHARGES TO DOUBLE HEADER IN NORTHERN IRELAND

May 22nd, 2019.

The second and third rounds of the Cromwell Trucks ACU British Quad Championship will take place this bank holiday weekend. First up is Tandragee Motocross Park on Saturday the 25th of May, and then it’s at Quad Racing Ireland’s home circuit at Tinker Hill, near Newry on Sunday the 26th.

Reigning British champ Paul Holmes holds a 15 point lead over Northern Ireland’s Mark McLernon, with British #2 and U21 champ Harry Walker in third.

McLernon has been on terrific form so far this year, and currently holds the lead in both the Ulster and Irish Championships. He’s benefited from dominating events in recent weeks at both circuits being used for the championship weekend.

Walker too has ridden both rounds of the Ulster Championships held at Tinker Hill and Tandragee, and will be looking to put that track knowledge to good use. Other riders in the frame include George Callaway, Oli Sansom, George and Tom Day, and Carl Bunce.

The quad racing ‘visitors’ will face stiff opposition from home-based riders in the guise of multi champion Justin Reid, still competitive in his third decade of quad racing, Moira youngster Dean Dillon who lies fourth in the Under 21 Championship, and David Cowan, amongst others.

Both days will also feature supporting races for local adult quads, and three Youth classes.

Support class online entries close today, Wednesday 22nd, May.
