BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP RETURNS WITH DUTCH WILDCARDS

July 13th, 2018.

Popular Dutch stars Marc de Vries and Joe Maessen will make a return to the British Championship this Sunday when they appear as Wildcards at round four of the series at Cusses Gorse.

It will be Maessen’s first appearance since Hawkstone Park in 2015 when he won a heat and finished third overall, and for de Vries, Canada Heights in 2016 when he finished fourth overall.

Marc and Joe are part of a healthy group of Wildcards for the round which includes other international riders plus Sheldon Seal and Europe’s leading female rider, Emma McQuaid, from Ireland.

They will join all the usual British Championship regulars, including the series leader Paul Holmes and his fierce rival, Mark McLernon, who are still split by just seven points after the third round at Foxhill earlier this month which was called off after qualifying because of dusty conditions.

Dust will not be a problem at Cusses Gorse assures British Championship series manager, Stuart Walker: “We have spoken to the landowner at Cusses and he has assured us he has ample stored water available to him and two working water bowsers and is confident the meeting will run. So we are looking forward to some great racing around one of the best quad tracks in the country.”

The event also features a full support programme of NORA-MX championship adult and youth classes.

Cusses Gorse is near Winterbourne Gunner, Salisbury in Wiltshire ( SP4 6HW).
