BEVAN AND DAVIES BATTLE AT BASTOGNE

July 18th, 2019.

Reigning Great 8 Champions James Bevan and Luke Davies took on the Bastogne 8 hour race in Belgium last weekend and came close to taking victory.

The Yamaha mounted Brits made their mark in qualifying taking second spot on the grid out of 50 teams from across Europe.

Things got even better when they took the win by 1 minute 28 seconds in the first four-hour session on the Saturday, despite some technical problems.

With a pole position start for the Sunday race things were looking good, but Bevan's battery had drained in the Parc Ferme overnight and he missed the start and was last away.

Despite a couple of offs, James made good progress through to a fighting fifth place at the half-way mark change-over. Luke took over but badly zapped his back and had to come in after two laps and hand back over to James.

While Luke headed to hospital, James flew the flag and fought through to a solid eighth place at the end of the race and a fine fourth place overall.

"It was an eventful weekend, but we showed that we were right on the pace, which is good news for the other big long-distance events coming up," said James. "A big thanks to all our sponsors and to the organisers and medical team at Bastogne who looked after Luke."
