British Championship regular Bailey Edwards is on the road to recovery following his serious road accident last week and has sent out a huge ‘thank you’ to the many members of the quad fraternity who have rallied round him.

Seventeen-year-old Bailey was in a collision with a car on his scooter in London and suffered leg, pelvis and collarbone injuries, and later had to have his lower left leg amputated.

He has now moved to a specialist prosthetic unit at Charing Cross Hospital where he is reported to be making good progress and remains very positive about the new challenges he faces in life.

Bailey’s dad Mick said: “He’s amazingly upbeat and is making good progress. He’s also really grateful to many people in the quad-racing scene who have contacted him, visited and sent get-well messages. It’s been amazing how many people have been in touch, and it has meant a lot to him.

“He’s adamant he wants to try and race a quad again once he gets his prosthetic leg and we’ve already started at looking at ways he can do it, like fitting an electronic gear shifter. We’ll see how he gets on, but if riding a quad is not realistic then we’ll just go and race something else!”

In his quad career so far, Bailey has a fine CV, including winning the British 250 Championship, representing Great Britain at the Quad Cross of European Nations in 2015, as well as winning big one-off events such as the 2015 Great 8 and Skegness Beachrace. Let’s hope he can add more successes to that list in the future…
