ATV’S ONLY BRITISH QUAD XC CHAMPIONSHIP R5 - REPORT

July 27th, 2018.

Tyn Twyll played host to round five of the ATV’s Only MCF British XC Championship last Sunday, 22nd July.

Set in a stunning valley in North Wales the 5.5-mile course proved to be a real test of stamina and skill for all competitors.

In the Expert+ category, the leading three positions changed throughout the 2.5-hour race with eventual winner Jamie Bone heading Paul McConway and Alex Bethell.

Sam Holmes rode a perfect race to take the win in the Expert class, whilst Axel Bone made it back-to-back wins in the Clubman group and Callum Brookes took his third win of the season in the Sportsman class. Katie Hodgson continued her run of great riding to win the 4 x 4 Lights class, again holding off the challenge of Derek Burns who led for the first part of the race. Steve Atkins led the way in the 4x4 Heavy class before a machine problem forced him into the pits at the mid-way point. Simon David soon caught up though to take the top step on the 4x4 Heavy class podium and the overall win.

In the Youth Race, which took place in the morning over 1.5-hours, Dylan McKenna was back and won the 250 Hybrid class and took the fastest lap of the race. Will Morgan took the honours in the Youth 250 class, with Cai Evans leading from start to finish to take the win in the Youth 100-125.

Whilst the Mini Quad Race took place over a shortened course for 30-minutes, it was equally as tough, and proved to be another big test for the Mini riders who all performed brilliantly. Iago Edwards took the win in the 90cc Class with Jake Robson winning the 50cc class for the second time this season.

Top lady was 4x4 rider Katie Hodgson, with Simon David taking the over 40’s win.

Round 6 will take place on September 2nd, 2018 at Greenhall Farm. See the website for details - www.dqracing.co.uk
