2017 BRITISH QX SERIES SORTED

November 23 2016.

The ACU 2016 British QX Champion Mark McLernon will begin his title defence on home soil in 2017 after Desertmartin in Northern Ireland was confirmed as the venue for round one of next year’s series.

The spectacular former MX Grand Prix track opens an exciting looking six-round championship, which also heads to the West Country after a break of several years, with the superb Landrake track near Plymouth hosting round three.

Details of the full championship are:

Round 1. 1st April – Desertmartin, Country Londonderry. (North Armagh MCC.)

Round 2. 7th May – Culham, Oxfordshire. NORA-MX.

Round 3. 21st May – Landrake, Cornwall. NORA-MX.

Round 4. 25th June - Foxhill, Wiltshire. NORA-MX non-club event.

Round 5. 23rd July - Dean Moor, Cumbria. NETT.

Round 6. 8th October - Canada Heights, Kent. Sidcup MCC.

Four of the rounds will run as double-headers with the ACU Maxxis British Sidecar Championship, giving the quads exposure to larger crowds.

The series will run to virtually the same regulations as 2016, with three 20 minute plus two lap races at each round and with all points from all six rounds to count. Once again it will include an official ACU Under 21 Championship.

More good news for the Championship is that Stuart Walker, one of the most experienced men on the British quad scene, has been confirmed as the new Series Manager of the ACU British QX Championship.

Stuart, and wife Nikki, currently run the UK’s biggest quad club, NORA-MX, and have been involved in the sport since 1986, with Stuart racing in every quad discipline the sport has thrown up over the years.

Confirming the appointment, Stuart said: “Running NORA-MX is a big enough job, but after a lot of deliberation and support from various parties, including some riders, I’ve succumbed to the task and agreed to manage the 2017 ACU British QX Championship.’

“The dates and venues are all finalised, and we have secured some great tracks worthy of a British championship, with a good geographical spread. NORA-MX will host two rounds alongside the existing club championship, plus we will be promoting a double-header with the sidecars at Foxhills on June the 25th. This will not be a normal NORA-MX championship meeting and will feature a solo support class instead.

“A lot of familiar faces, who have been around the sport for years, will be helping us to run the series to a standard that people have come to expect and we are looking forward to the challenge.

“One thing we do need though is sponsorship. We cannot run the championship successfully without some backing, so if you can help, please get in contact.

"We are in discussion with a potential title sponsor, or companies or individuals can become the sole trophy sponsor at any of the six rounds."

Riders wanting to register an interest in riding in 2017 should contact Stuart by emailing him at quadbc@nora-mx.com or call/text by using a new dedicated number: 0734 000 7777.
