SANSOM IN OVERALL TOP TEN AFTER EMX ROUND ONE

April 22nd, 2024.

Oli Sansom was another Brit tackling the challenging track at Alqueidáo Torres Novas for round one of the 2024 EMX Quad European Championship in Portugal.

After a tough qualifying session on Saturday he went out on Sunday with the intention of finishing inside the overall top ten.

“It was a tough track for everyone but I’m really happy with how I felt on the quad, and my fitness felt good too. I had an issue in the first race when my clutch cable snapped, however, I managed to roll around and collect points. I finished ninth in the second moto and secured ninth overall and I’m happy with that.

“I didn’t do much riding through the winter as I wanted to put my family first but, I should get more bike time in before round two. Heerde in Holland is a deep sand track which will be more suitable for me and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Overall standings: 1. Patrick Turrini 47, 2. Harry Walker 45, 3. Joao Vale 42, 4. Karlis Neija 33, 5. Joakim Granli 30, 6. Julian Veldman 30, 7. Manfred Zienecker 29, 8. Mark McLernon 28, 9. Oli Sansom 19, 10. Simao Almeida 19.

The next round of the EMX Quad Championship is over the weekend of the 11th and 12th of May at Heerde, Netherlands.
