HUMBIE OPENS FOR BUSINESS

February 19th, 2020.

James Nisbet, owner of the newly created Scottish track at Humbie MX, just south of Edinburgh, has announced a practice day for quads that is perfectly timed for Northern based riders who are planning on contesting the NETT Championship. The practice day is scheduled for Saturday the 11th of April, which is just two weeks before the opening round of NETT’s opening round at Wooley Grange.

The new circuit, designed last year by track creator extraordinaire Johnny Hamilton, is still to be put to the test, as Humbie MX is waiting for a public entertainment licence from the local council. However, it has been granted a temporary licence.

“The council is working with us,” explained Nisbet. “We need to carry out noise testing and so the temporary licence will allow us to run the practice day for youth and adults and we’ll also have a separate beginner and auto track. Paramedics will be in attendance and there’ll be on-site catering.

“The noise testing of the quads in action will make up part of the practice day, in order to demonstrate that noise levels within the surrounding area are not intrusive. If all goes well, the hope is that the track will be granted permission to open for a limited number of days each season, providing a much-needed venue in Scotland for quad racing.

“My aim is to provide a venue that accommodates the needs of national championship standard events, that will stretch the top riders, while at the same time is not too daunting for the midfielders. We have had a couple of riders try out the track already, and feedback has been really positive.”

Top Scot Murray Graham was among the first to test sections of the new track while it was under construction last year. He said; “Over the moon to have been asked to ride the all new Humbie MX track. What a job you’ve done, Johnny Hamilton - up there with the best tracks in Britain!”

The track at Humbie will be open on Saturday the 11th of April from 10.00am to 4.00pm at EH36 5PB.
