BRITISH QUAD CHAMPIONSHIP HEADS TO FINAL AT CUSSES

August 12th, 2022.

The final round of the 2022 ACU British Championship will be held at Cusses Gorse this weekend, the 13th and 14th of August.

Hosted by Waterlooville MCC, it is anticipated to be a hot and dusty affair. However, Cusses’ owner and track builder Justin Barclay, as always, has maintained the track to a high degree and the racing is expected to be close and exciting.

At the top of the class, reigning British champ Mark McLernon heads the series with 297 points. Harry Walker in second has 223 points, while third-placed Oli Sansom has 208 points.

So, with 75 points on the table, McLernon looks pretty safe with a 74-point margin over Walker. The battle is on for the runners up slot though as Walker only has a 17-point advantage over Sansom. Both riders will be focused on riding fast but, more importantly, getting their machines safely over the finish line to grab those valuable points. It’s going to the wire!

There’s all to play for in the British Under-21 Championship too. Alfie Walker is in the lead with 265 points ahead of Zac Orchard on 241 and Chad Beevers on 239.

Over in the National Experts, Beevers has already won the class. He has a tally of 262 points over Mark Wilson on 164, who is followed by Dylan McKenna on 162.

British Championship points after 3 rounds:
1. Mark McLernon 297, 2. Harry Walker 223, 3. Oli Sansom 208, 4. Murray Walker 189, 5. Jack Naylor 163, 6. Alfie Walker 149, 7. Kevin Meenagh 148, 8. Zac Orchard 147, 9. Kyle Murphy 110, 10. Justin Reid 88.
